The 19th Century
18K Yellow Gold is the old-fashioned gold karat weight, much of the jewelry from the 19th century and early 20th was 18K. It has 30% more gold content than the 14K, so the yellow tone is a warmer, more golden color, and is a fair bit more expensive, usually about 30% more.
